I have a pc76xl that transmits on occasion.
Ill be talking and 5-10mins later it'll stop radio still is on i can receive others talking to me. In order to make it work i have to turn off the radio for a while then it works fine. Any ideas what could be happening. Thanks

May be something in the radio but I had a microphone cause similar actions. It just did it occasionally then got worse. When I tried a spare mike it went away. Took mike apart found they had stripped one wire too far and it would make contact with one of the other pins causing it to go into transmit. Why it seemed to get progressively worse I couldn't say. Taped up the bare section and it worked fine.

Could be the Mic, Could also be a solder joint...I would start by switching Mic's.

I would also try a different mic, first.
A 76xl would be getting some age on it now, so I wouldnt rule out a solder joint as JJD mentioned, or possibly a failing component.

I had a defective audio chip in a couple of those. Had to wiggle it sometimes. Finally replaced the chip. No more issues
