CB will not transmit

    I have a uniden pro 520 xl. There is no tranmission. Receive is good. When I transmit, the TX light goes red, the receive light is red. swr reading is below 2.
    Does anyone have a clue as to what is going on here? Thank's in advance.:biggrin_255:

    If the swr meter is moving, you are transmitting.

    Thank's Ridgeline. Just to clear up. Are you talking about with the swr meter in line with radio and antenna when setting antenna. The radio does not have a swr just the lights showing signal strength and transmit. The lights for transmit comes on red but nothing goes out. I'm wondering if the tx light would come on if the last stage transistor is bad or would the tx light NOT come on.

    How do you know the radio is not transmitting? Can you not be heard on someone elses radio? Can you plug in a dummy load lamp ($6 from redmans CB shop on eBay) and see if ti lights up when you key up?

    I recall the 520 uses a different mic than some of the other radios (condenser mic)....have you recently changed mics?

    hi have you checked the swr with that radio or with another one so if you got a reading with the original radio then you have a transmission signal from the radio i would suggest that you have a switching problem inside the radio such as a transistor that switches between transmit and receive you will need a circuit diagram to do this assuming you have the needed tools and electronic expertise to do this kind of work hop this helps.
