CBBT is normal this hour, however radar shows St Petersburg to Hatteras is in storm conditions that will increase into the night.
CBBT reports as of this post at 6 PM CST conditons are normal, sea state unknown to me at the Capes... (Road decking is about 40 feet or so above.
That will be expected to end tonight when winds exceed 70 and they expect to close the bridge completely.
Nothing will pass. CBBT is one of the best systems for updating in near real time decisions to progressively eliminate or ban empty vehicles, RV's etc as wind speed increases. Ultimately only 42000 and up in the trailer at or near 80000 will pass until 60 mph and then close it.
I would not use this bridge any time soon. Retreat to Ashland VA there should still be a good TA and a 76 just north of there and Doswell as a alternate until this thing passes.
