Go for the Uniden 980 instead! It includes sideband. You can check CB radio reviews on: www.CBradioMagazine.com ;)

The 980 is a fine radio, and a bargain for what it is, but if you're just looking for a radio for the road on channel 19, rather than shooting skip, you don't need SSB. One of the simpler Cobra or Uniden models will work fine. If price isn't an object and you want more performance I'd suggest a Stryker 447HPC2 or 655, but they will require set-up by a shop for use on the regular CB channels. A well-tuned antenna and a proper installation, will make larger difference than your choice of a basic radio.

Like Turbo-T posted you cant go wrong with a Cobra 25 , only difference from a 29 ltd is the 25 does not have a delta tune knob or built in swr meter which are both pretty much useless.

Reasons for considering the Cobra 25 LTD Classic would be performance, price, simplicity and durability.

How are those antennas that are built into the trucks ? Are they ok ? My company has Freightliners and Internationals with the average truck age 23 months
