I think a HS diploma goes alot further than a GED....my reasoning is when a recruiter sees that you have already shown a propensity to quit/give-up if the going gets a little sticky it throws up a red flag to start with.

Well for me it was more than little sticky it was blown up engine. Really it's weird that one needs all this to drive a truck I mean it isn't rocket science after all?

And tell me on which occasion during my trucking career will I need this knowledge:

It's not rocket science but not just anybody can do the job. It takes a certain determination to just get through schooling and training.

EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!If it's so easy like V8 thinks then why do more fail then succeed and why such a huge turnover rate.V8 quit school,no way he would last in trucking.

    X is the customer
Q is you are headed to the terminal
P is you are headed to CA
S you are going to frickin Jersey
R is a truck jack knifed on S and that's how you get around it.
T is the GPS leading you astray around the S backup and you are lost.
    The little letters are shortcuts.

See you do use it! :biggrin_2559:

This. I have had or applied to more CDL jobs than I have fingers and toes and not one even asked me if I have a GED or HS diloma. Let alone asked to see it.

That being said if you don't know even basic math you will have problems. Even for being a register jockey at McDonald's you'd run into snags. If a customer's order was $8.91 and they handed you $10.01 would you know what to give them back?
