Look for an oil/propane or cement company that has their own transport division. I worked for an oil/propane company for many years that had both the bobtails for home delivery and tractor trailers to pick up from the refinery and deliver to bulk plants, gas stations, hot mix plants, etc... They are run very differently than a trucking company because they are a oil/propane company first and have trucks in order to do business. We had no problem with a bobtail driver who had his/her class A train on a tractor trailer.

The nice thing is, with a company like that you get recent class A experience...you also become very valuable to the company because you can bounce back and forth as needed.

I also put cement company because our local cement company also has it's own trucks with pneumatic trailers instead of contracting it out.

Propane will be really busy this time of year and slower during the spring & summer when it warms up and the snowbirds leave town. Carry a can of wasp spray with you.

Cement will work all kinds of crazy hours, there will never be any consistency in your schedule. You might have a pour that starts at 2:00 AM. You won't work much when it's rainy. And you'll have to learn how to get your slumps right.

Since you're in Florida, maybe see if you can find a fuel company that does wet-hose work.
