You have to have Hazmat.
Also Tanker endorsement.
Also combination vehicle.
Also Airbrakes, as fuel tankers generally have air disc brakes and other applicances.
also you will be trained in a company situation specifically fuel after you get your schooling done and these things with your new CDL. Not one minute before.
You generally will have to either make it to 25 with no accidents etc etc etc or you have to spend some time working for a bottom feeder until you accumulate a good record that is flawless, no incidents, accidents, fatals, injury or suits etc etc etc before you are considered for tanker work.
It's worth the grind to use a gaming term to get to fuel tanking if that is where your heart is.SplashDogs and FutureTanker Thank this. -
Is it very difficult to move into the fuel hauling business after attending a truck driving school ? Quite a difference in training

Are you located in South Texas? I know this company Coastal Transport hires some students right out of school. They have automatic Volvos and are home every day. Get your TWIC along with your hazmat.
