I paid two months ago. I did just call the school and they told me I could get a full refund if I needed to. I would still go but I did not expect the license to expire on me and have to go back to school all over again if this year did not work out for me.

If the CDL is okay even after a year ill go to school for sure, but if it is lost then no sense in doing it now. Ill have to call and ask the DMV how it all works.

Ehhh I think I am going go for it regardless... you only live once and it’s all paid off. You are right I was pumped so I’ll go for it. Maybe I’ll find a part time job driving a bus to keep myself somewhat in the loop. There are plenty of tour bus companies around Las Vegas hiring drivers. You involuntarily helped me...Thankssss

its not lost. a CDL is just like any other license, you just renew it (pay dmv) every few years depending on what your state requires for DL's. AND you need to keep up with you physical card, which just means a quick physical every 2 years $30-$50.....

We are talking about meeting the requirments of New Driver Companies, they require recent Exp OR be a Recent Grad. So in order to get hired by one of the BIG companies you would need to go back to school.

So if i were you i would get the refund, and save that money for later if you should decide to drive later on, why waste money.....

Well if you ever want to go OTR but you stay local for awhile you most likely will have to take a refresher. Just keep up with the DOT Physical etc, etc, and when it's time to renew, just make sure you take everything needed.

It has been a while since I posted this, but I am ready to give this a try once again. I decided now to try and drive a bus for the time being. I called a school and they have courses for Class B for $1500. The class A was around $2000 when I last payed prior to getting the refund last year. My question is would it be wise to get the Class A with the passenger endorsement or simply the Class B if I dont plan on driving a truck at this very moment? I am not sure if driving a bus would qualify as recent experience if I ever do decide to jump into the big rig.

If you have thoughts of trucking, yes, get the class A with passenger endorsement.

I just now read your thread. You can always leave trucking and keep up the class A status by renewals which require you keeping up your medical card.

Trucking companies go back 3 years on experience in a truck OTR only. A bus doesn't count. Anybody that takes a longer break has to go back out with a trainer. It doesn't matter if you have no experience or 20 years experience.

    I like your signature picture.

yeah get the a. you wont have as many options if you go from bus to truck but at least you wont have to worry about going back to get the a later. you'll just have fewer choices if you go into trucking
