With all due respect, I don't think so. There already is an L restriction that means no full air brakes. Using an L in that section to signify a learners would be confusing at best.
The last time I remember looking at a Class A permit was at least 10 years ago. I highly recommend the OP goes back to DMV for clarification and if I am right has a permit that will be a fully unrestricted (eyeglasses exception) CDL upon passing their driving test.

Exactly! This is why I said it has been at least 10 years since I last looked at a CDL permit.
The last time I had my photo taken for my state-issued ID the DMV clerk could not operate the camera correctly. I agree with your clown remark! -
If you completed the skills test in a vehicle with Air Brakes, this is the error on the DMV’s part. Go to the DMV and tell them to remove the restriction. I’m sure they’ll see on the system that you took it on a vehicle with Air Brakes.
