As far as endorsements with your CDL permit. You can get your doubles/triples and tanker endorsement if you want them, and AFAIK they will transfer state to state. However HazMat WILL NOT TRANSFER. If you're going to get HazMat, wait until after you get your CDL at Prime and have transferred your license back to your home state.

Pretty sure though, you can take the test when you get your permit, and then, when you transfer your CDL from MO, the endorsement will apply to your CDL. Assuming, of course, your state's gotten your TSA background check.

You never need to have your let when you become a member of primary you can acquire you cdl let at primes school
-
I'm not sure what a "cdl let" is, but according to ORD, who did this, you will have less than 24 hours at Prime to get your permit if you wait. There will also be many other tasks coming out of that firehose, so not everybody will want that kind of pressure. Getting it before hand seems to be more controllable.

i agree along with studying for your permit you have other classess going on to while i had free time to do other things and talk to current drivers(i came with a permit) the ppl who didnt have a permit were studying and some stressing about it so it would be to anyones advantage to come with a permit

We had a guy in my class sent home after failing the Combo portion of the test three times. He knew his stuff, but got super nerve-wracked after missing by one question on the first pass. So flustered his next attempt was worse. Then, after studying all night, and having to go to the DMV for his third attempt... well, he went home. That would really suck. Easiest to just have over with it beforehand methinks.

Emton that does suck part of the reason why I came to prime with a permit and my recruiter recommended it......less stress is always better

I think they're changing as some other companies are, too. During my first verbal contact, my recruiter "strongly" recommended that I get my CDL permit (here in Michigan, it's called a TIP, Temporary Instruction Permit) because the training is not designed to get a permit; it's designed to get a CDL, which is very different. I heard that Swift has already changed and now requires a permit when coming to class. My guess is others will follow. It just makes sense.
GSWx Thanks this.
