I have a friend who owns his own truck I was thinking should I go with him over the road to get my training or should I go to a school What will be best
-
I did all my training without a school... well I studied and took the written test. I didn't drive a truck until two days before my road test and passed just fine.
Study the pre trip and air brake part of the test. The driving is basically like driving anything with the exception of touchy brakes and it takes a little practice to learn to shift... especially when they force you to double clutch and not allow use of the Engine brake.
if you are tight on money and the state isn't paying for it and you know you are a fast learner and a descent drive, it doesn't hurt to ask your buddy to show you the ropes and let you practice and test with his truck. You should know with a permit you can't leave the state. -

I had already studied for my permit, and took several online practice test too. I didn't mind going through that portion of the training because it reinforced what I already knew.
