I got my cdl in Texas last month. I had a medical card because I drove a 26k truck interstate but they did not ask for it when I got my permit. I just had to show it before I got my license. I don't know if it is legal to drive on a permit without a medical card but they will certainly issue you one.

It's not on topic, the TOPIC is whether a Med Card is REQUIRED to receive a permit and your ranting about 700lb people driving on permits, It's a yes or no answer which from all the replies it would appear the majority answer is no. Not sure why you can't come to terms with the fact that’s it's you that (possibly) lives in an oddball state that does require it prior to being licensed. But you can't argue with the ignorant. I can vouch for 2 states and if you read any replies you'd see many others didn't need to produce a medical card for a permit in their state either. Your arguing for the sake of arguing at this point.

Today, I called the TXDMV, and they told me YOU MUST HAVE A VALID MED CERT TO BE ISSUED A LICENSE.
    What about a permit?
A permit is a license. (thats what they said)

THANK YOU and come again driver of 6 months

I went through it... And it was not asked for until I applied for my license... Not for the permit...

I didn't get my medical until i had my permit for 2 weeks... I did it personally not just talked to someone on the phone.... Thank you come again...

In Ohio you can get a permit without med card. You only have to have med card for the actual license.

OK and what do you think you've proven? Nothing has been established that wasn't already known. That your in an oddball state that requires that as I said. The fact still stands YOUR state is in the minority on this one. To get technical about it in TX you could simply claim intrastate at permit time and NOT need a med cert, then at license time change it and produce a med cert. Feel free to look into it yourself. Here, My TX Gov't website with it in black and white trumps your alleged phone call https://www.dps.texas.gov/DriverLicense/medCertReq.htm we'll just ignore once again how many people other than me have stated they didn't need it.

Driver of 6 months huh? That makes tons of sense, that's ok, just make up your story as you go. Whatever amuses you. What's funny is I could be a driver of a month and just literally got my permit a month ago WITHOUT a med card, and you'd still tell me I didn't. You've completely shut out logic and your just repeating yourself at this point. I don't know whether to be amused or feel bad for your obvious lack of reading comprehension and zero ability to simply READ and research an issue rather than continuously make yourself look foolish.
