Congrats on your permit! Questions on taxi cabs? Going to check those out! We barely see taxis where I live and didn't get asked anything about them, so hadn't given them much thought. Easy to see how those could cause a little concern. The turn signal question you got- had to be for awareness of the arm signals. Nice summer days bring the collector cars and Harley riders out in droves here. As far as old things being encountered on the road, the most significant question for that on my permit test was about hooking glad hands and hoses to trailers made before '75. Condocruiser, you're right about all the online tests (and the size of the lines at the testing facility too!). This was the free online one I used to supplement the one from the school: http://cdltest.co/cdl/illinois_cdl_test.php
Good thing about Texas...literally thousands of DPS offices for licensing. Here in Weatherford the lines are cc rarely over a ten minute wait.
Ive found that while most of the questions from here and on trucking truth were on my tests, they were almost always worded differently. Truckers Report is what made me pass my tanker, haz-mat and doubles triples tests....the only part out of my state book I actually read was the haz-mat section. I kept taking all the tests over and over again till I had it drilled in my melon. Im a firm believer that this stuff needs to be taught on a hands on basis and not book work. Its ridiculous that you can pass a test like doubles and triples and then be qualified to drive such a rig.
I agree. I read that stuff and it goes in one side and b out the other. I can read it all day but until I SEE it, touch it, and interact with it I'm not gonna have a clue wtf I am doing.
