YouTube it. There are videos that ask every question for your state CDL permit, verbatim. Also study the book. I got my CDL permit and all endorsements, basically only cracking the manual for the special requirements test in Texas, which I don't think other states require and couldn't find all the answers.

I will say though, if you don't thirst for knowledge, this may not be the career for you. I was pretty pissed about getting a dry Van mentor, and even more pissed when he started running reefer(I'm going flatbed when I upgrade). Then I realized that knowing how to pull all of the above will be a major help for those times when I may end up having to sit for 2-3 days, because there isn't an open deck load. Now they can give me a load heading toward a place where I CAN get one. Also if I need to get home, no problem. They can get me a reefer or van if all else fails.

What does this have to do with your thread? A lot actually. You have to be the type of person who wants to learn. I'm learning every day and I bet the people with 20 years that you can't tell #### they don't already know, they are learning every day too.

Just read the manual. Also, watch as many of the really long and extensive pretrip inspection videos you can find. All of them. Everyone does them differently, but you will familiarize yourself with the various components of your tractor and trailer, what you should be looking for, and how to know when you have a problem that will get you fined vs one that will get you killed.

You read the manual for knowledge. You take the practice tests for confidence. You learn to drive the truck for the rest of your life.
