Yup that was him...Who do you work with if u don't mind me asking? -
How many truck drivers actually complete this list every day? To the average laymen, that looks like it could take a few hours to complete.
-
the truck you get assigned to, you WILL do a complete pre-trip and write it up, what you found wrong. after that.....??
lights, kick tires, am/fm radio, out the gate........(maybe fuel, if you're squeamish)
-
None.
Yeah sure. I´ll get right on it.
Illegal Welds, Why would someone come out and put an illegal weld on my frame when I was sleeping?
Not that you should check nothing because there is important stuff. Tire check, yeah. That´s important. Running lights, for sure. Just one light out can get you a full truck inspection and fines going through the scales. Load seal still on? Trailer numbers, paperwork all match up or are you going to carry the wrong trailer 700 miles? Fifth wheel still good or did the lot lizard you rejected last night pull your pin so you drop your trailer pulling out. etc.
If you don´t know what´s important, then check everything. Either way, you´re the operator and all the responsibilities are yours. Do what you thinks best.
As Rerun said though , when you get a new truck, for sure go over it with a fine tooth comb and write it up.Last edited: Oct 21, 2010

While You-Tube videos, and lists posted here can and will be useful, it's important to know what your state wants exactly. I know this as I went to class in MN, but tested in WI.
While I had the MN pre-trip and in cab air brakes down pat, I got dinged for things that were not covered in MN, such as I was to ACTUALLY open and shut the trailer doors. For the in cab air brakes, I was dinged for not listening for air leaks with the key off.
Assuming you are going to school in the state you're testing, be sure to know your school's procedure by heart, and not what you're seeing online. I have to say, I just about puked when I heard I got things wrong on my pre-trip in my test. Had I been in MN, I would have gotten 100%. -
citing Blaise Pascal?...at trucker fora?....
seriously, when and if you get a take on whether examiner wants a mechanical inspection that actually needs to be done in a shop for safety reasons then let me know
