Requirements for a passport are birth certificate or naturalization documents AND a drivers license.

Get the passport card, too, it’s no trouble to carry, and comes in handy.

 

I use my passport for flying. Our dmv office has a 3-4 hour wait time to see a clerk, here in PA. I won’t get real id for that reason alone. Passport is good for 10 years.

 

I was never a fan of the patriot act to start with. I thought then and I do now that the real ID thing, as well as the TWIC, was a solution in search of a problem. The best anti-terrorism tools is a set of eyeballs. However, that is just my opinion. What is not an opinion is how boneheaded it is to restrict access to real ID then allow a bypass using a document that is easier to get. Typical "guvermint" idiocy!
