CARSON CITY, Nev. (News 4 & FOX 11) — The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles has extended its grace period for DMV-issued documents that expired between March 12 and July 15 through September 13.

 

What renewal? It expired a year ago, there is nothing to renew.

Now if you are wanting something faster than a 6 month wait list, not sure, but don't get your hopes up. What with covid and all.

 

None will accept your expired CDL to grant a new CDL without a retest. You do not have a CDL to transfer as you were downgraded by New Jersey for failure to comply with the conditions of renewal. That said, if you can get your learners permit from NJ you can go to a neighboring state such as Pennsylvania and take your road test at a third party test site. Yes the fee is high, typically around $350 pass or fail, more if they need to provide the truck, but you can usually get an appointment in days not months. Most states, including NJ, allow CLP holders to complete the skills and road test portions with out of state examiners.

That will be your quickest legal way to regain your CDL without waiting for NJ to schedule a road test. Moving under false pretense to get a CDL reissued is not advised as it is illegal.
