The rep told me that I didnt want to finance through them unless my credit is tanked which after years of rebuilding it i have a 785 score. I have found a school in nw ohio that is $3995. I will check out my bank. There is also a local credit union that handles cdl school loans. Thanks everyone for input!

Sounds like you got an honest recruiter. I'm not sure if there are any around you but SAGE schools have the most 1 on 1 training available at driver mills and their tuition where I live is $4,600.
If that's worth the extra $600 or not is up to you.

Well I did find Great Lakes truck driving school in NE Ohio.
$3600. They suggested personal loan through my bank.
Seems like a decent school from reviews I've read in the forum.

Be careful, the rules are changing, fast, the "fly by nights" and "mills" will soon be a thing of the past. I get calls almost every day from people who did it via a "mill" and can't get hired because the insurance company won't touch them or they have to go to work for some low wage piker who gives them a rolling junkyard to slink around the country in until they garner enough CSA points so even the dirt bags won't hire them on. Take a minute and do it right, as trucking can be a very lucrative and rewarding career when done right. The "outlaw super trucker era" is also ending, be a professional driver. Find a trucking company who will train for nothing up front or a good school who offers a 160 hour course for a reasonable price. The going rate right now is $4,000.00 to $5,000.00. Get past the nanny-nanny-boo-boo's from the die hard super truckers and become a professional driver. I drove long haul, professionally for 22 years and now work for a CDL school. Julibird

I gave up on paying for school and I'm getting my license through Prime. Care to join me? Haha

I work for TDA. Your choice of Prime is a pretty good one. My brother and 1 of my former co-drivers drive for Prime, they make good money and drive nice trucks. Remember to play by the rules, you are the Captain of your ship always protect your CDL, be safe and keep in mind job hopping in this industry does not pay.

I just completed a CDL program through a community college. I did a personal loan through my bank because the school didn't offer any aid and I needed some money to cover bills and expenses also. My interest rate is around 7-8% which is decent for an unsecured loan.

    SHOJim Thanks this.
