Big plus. Far too many people are going the easy route with an auto, and don't understand how many doors open with the versatility of a non-restricted license.

Not so good. While there are driving jobs everywhere, Florida is a bit limited due to lots of different stuff going in, but very few, specific commodities going out. Not impossible, but it'll be a bit harder than living in, say, Chicago.

That's where all of us would rather have started, but starter companies like that--even for us folks what didn't get caught--are pretty dang rare.

I'll echo Tomcat and others--good on ya for getting your life back on track. Unfortunately, you're gonna have to go with a not-great company for a while unless a miracle happens. Just ride it out, learn as much as you can, be as careful and safety-conscious as humanly possible, and DO NOT let yourself be coerced, threatened or tricked into doing anything illegal.

SOme companies might point to money laundering or traffiking as a problem. But hey, usually felons get going again in trucking. Its what they do. Even if its unloading trailers for cash money.

You need to be sure that you are free from monitoring, probation or any other action before trucking. Trucking is a special issue for that kind of process due to their desire to retain control of your freedoms in your state until they are no further business with you.
