Hello All, my name is Von, I'm new to the site.... I'm getting ready to graduate CDL school, I have so much to think about... what trucking company to go with, being a new driver and being a woman, wondering if I should be a team driver to start, or go to regional, or over the road.... just looking to get some helpful from advice from some experience truck drivers out there. Any input would be helpful..thanx

I see you live in Catskill, I'm in Woodstock.

Did you go to the CDL school in Hurley? I'm going there on May 13th

Regional is OK if you get a dedicated account with some company; otherwise the miles may not be too good. Schneider & Prime have some dedicated accounts in the Northeast. Many companies do, that's just two off the top of my head. Check with Roehl and Marten Transport for Northeast regional. Even if some companies have "experience required" on the websites, apply anyway. Teams driving isn't for everyone, that's individual choice. You will probably be with a trainer anyway for awhile, then you can decide if you want to be stuck in a truck with another person all the time. Also, consider getting a passport & TWIC, plus tanker/hazmat endorsements for more opportunities and more annual pay.

Put your questions on "Questions From New Drivers" for more responses.
