My first job out of Trucking School, I had to deliver a small crate of Radioactive material to a research lab at a university. I puckered up slightly.

Eh, I don't know if that would bother me as much as driving a tanker full of fuel, with all the other lunatic drivers on the road.

Is trucking school separate from commercial driving school? CDL school is to get the license but do companies have their own schools/training programs for the actual job of being a trucker and the procedures and everything after you've got your license?

I felt no different with 11,400 gallons of gasoline (105k lbs gvw) than I do with 80k lbs gvw of dry van freight. Matter of fact, the low-profile fuel tanks handle much better. Either way, you gotta deal with dummies.

Same difference. School will teach you to pass the DMV exams. If you’re lucky, the company will teach you the rest. Otherwise, you’ll learn on the fly.

Yes. Almost every company that hires brand new CDL holders pairs the new driver with some veteran, now the vets have a few weeks of experience, and you learn the 95% of trucking the CDL school doesn't teach.

Thanks everyone for the advice, really. But I have decided to only look at non-cdl now. I have an OCD problem double/triple checking everything in just my car, have a feeling it would be made worse with trucks. There are times I've had trouble sleeping at night worrying if I forgot to shut the lights..etc in my car or left a window open, which wouldn't be good for more complicated vehicles.
