    How long is "too long"?
I don't want to sound harsh, but it sounds like you're breaking into the trucking industry with limitations on your availability for long haul, or unavailable to be on the road for weeks at a time.
This is going to greatly limit your options and opportunities to get some real safe miles and experience. If you don't know by now, most truckers work long, and odd hours, are away from home days, weeks, even months at a time. If you are unable to make absence from home work out, at least for a time, perhaps you may have to choose another career path.

If anyone has any job leads for this driver, the OP, living in Mechanicsburg, PA post them for him. OK, Harrisburg area.

For the moment -- all solo driving positions for Schneider out of the Harrisburg, PA area are tanker jobs:

Over-the-Road (OTR) Tanker truck driver | Top drivers earn up to $84,000 | Up to $5,000 sign-on bonus | Schneider (schneiderjobs.com)

This position has the driver home every other weekend.

Schneider actually has a terminal just down the road from Harrisburg -- in Carlisle, PA.

I used it a good bit when I was running OTR for Schneider; it's a nice terminal.

Tanker training for this position will very likely be over in Coraopolis, PA.

LTL is saturated with the influx of YRC drivers. If you want to drive for an LTL, go apply for a dock position. Many offer cdl training and would have a refresher course available.

Look into coke Pepsi frito lay. Usually lumping pallets/cases but driving a class A.

That's a great idea; search for beverage delivery driver positions. Hard work, but the pay is good.
Edit: Beverage companies cut lots of slack for driver applicants, such as tickets, etc.
