Once you were issued your PA liscense, your NJ license should have been null and void.

It is illegal to possess a licesnse from more than one state at the same time.

You might have to do some leg work to get things sorted out.

I turned in my license to the PA DMV, so I didn't break any laws. I don't think it can be considered a suspended license. I think what they did was suspend my ability to drive in the state of NJ, which was the only power they would have. I just reinstated that right, so I'm hoping this issue won't impact me. I'll be getting a copy of my driving record for NJ to see what other issues there might be.

If they ask "have you ever had your license suspended" then you answer yes if in fact you've had your license suspended. It doesn't matter which state. Don't be foolish and try to hide a fact on a application. If they find out you lied, your driving career is over.

I hope this won't cause you any problems. But you are wise to double check your NJ DMV report.

I'm not trying to be foolish by any means. NJ cancelled my driving privelages after I no longer held a license with them. How can they cancel a license that I don't hold?

Actually, I did have my license suspended when I was 18 or so, so I would have to answer yes anyway.

Under the CDL, you can lose the driving privilege to drive a commercial vehicle and not lose your license that allows you to drive a non commercial vehicle.

It all depends what the application is asking. I looked at one the other day and they asked if you ever had a CDL suspended. So there's hope, you just have to look. I would also ask NJ how they can suspend your driving privileges when you don't hold a license from them. Just make sure you know all there is to know about your records and be very careful on how you answer your questions. Sometimes you may think the company cares about a subject and they may not even look at it. But if you lie that's a different story. So be completely honest.
