Yes, the site is very good, with examples of Some of the General Knowledge questions, that are included in most other states as well. Thanks!!

SHE PASSED!!!!!! She made a 92 on her pre-trip. Her confidence is building fast now. She will get to take her driving test one week from today. With the extra practice hours she should do fine.
    I passed my driving test.
    Can't thank you people enough.
Now I can concentrate on those job applications!

Unfortunately there are no manuals, etc to help you understand "dispatcherese" or the directions they give you.:biggrin_2559:

Kittyfoot, fortunately I spent many years on the 'customer service' engineering team for a commuter aircraft manufacturer. Try to decipher the descriptions that those people give you!
And I have been married for a long time, so I am good at figuring what what she meant from what she said. Although engineers are taught to not read between the lines, it only applies to when talking with other good engineers (rare circumstances since most engineers do not meet my standards of what 'good' is!!). All other times a good engineer MUST read between the lines in order to figure out what is required. From what I have read on these boards, a trucker must be even better at reading between the lines.
If only people would say what the mean. And a significant increase in vocabulary would help lots of people. But even then, the English language is a very poor method of conveying precise descriptions and thus lots of confusion can arise. Even amongst professionals that have very strict and narrow definitions for many terms the confusion can be great.
But, yeah, I am sure it gets frustrating sometimes. Just hope I can handle it.

Your wife may not have a mechanical mind. It is common for some to have trouble grasping concepts when they have never exposed to it.

Most students don't study and some have instructors that just can't communicate well with students. Doesn't mean they are stupid or even a bad instructor. When were truckers ever known for their communication skills.

I grandfathered on everything but the written tests, but I went out to a secluded place in my case a campground at the lake.No TV,radio, cell phones or any distractions and read and reread the manual several times the day before I took the tests.
When I took the tests I knew the answers.I took five tests while some of the people I was testing with were failing the first one.
When drivers complain about the difficulty of the tests I always ask them what was on the test that a driver should not know? I usually just get a dumb look.It is all information that all competent drivers should know.

NDbadlands, yeah smarts can get in the way sometimes, and yeah I have fallen into the trap more than once. But sometimes I am able to play dumb, and on many subjects it is no act! I am able to easily understand the most complex mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic devices, design them, improve them, fix them, but a complex electrical circuit to me is a flashlight with TWO or more batteries (LOL).
I have areas of extreme expertise and areas of complete blank. So some call me genius and some call me stupid and I guess that most are correct.
