CDS Tractor Trailer Training, Virginia

I stopped in there once, back in 2009. I was looking to move to the Fredericksburg/Spotsylvania area... I'd even finished my time in the National Guard with a unit out of Fredericksburg, rather than join the NC National Guard when I moved to NC... years of planning, and I end up moving to Colorado, instead. I didn't really observe their classes, though.. I just went into to see if they had leads for anyone in the area who was hiring. They weren't of much (read, any) use in that regard.

 

The truckers tgat train you generally care but the sexy young girl upstairs and the owner are rude money grubbing individuals who would murder you for a qaurter if you go there the trainers will complain of how it is there.

 

I already had my Class A for a little over seven years at that point... the only thing they could've offered me instruction-wise was training for the passenger endorsement, which I had absolutely no interest in.
I remember stopping in.. to be honest, I don't remember much about the place at all. I was just a bit surprised to see it there, as I'd been going to Fredericksburg to hang out with a friend of mine (part of my reason for finishing my time in the VA Guard, rather than the NC Guard, as well) and had never known it was there before then.

 

I live in Gloucester so it was a long ride for a month my brother in law took the class with me and passed he was diagnosed with mild retardation he has the mind of a 14 year old so watch out for any western trucks he got his own truck today.

 

The above post says he graduated from CDS, which is the only true statement in his post. I do not understand why a person feels a need to randomly make up things that are completely false. We train you until you pass. DMV has strict rules regarding who is a state licensed instructor. No one had a license lapse, or ever drove crazy or any of the other many things rambled on about. As president of CDS, we have top-notch instructors and have a great reputation in the trucking industry!

 

After weighing my options I finally made the decision to attend CDS and earned my CDL 2 days ago!! The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. The school is like anything in life, you get out of it what you put into it. To follow on JBALLEHs last post, training lasts until you obtain your license. They will train you for as long as it takes. The school is divided into classroom and driving time. We were in the trucks the first day and every day after. Backing maneuvers and road time were consistent and after a week or so of both I felt very comfortable and confident in my abilities.
A lot of recruiters come by with plenty of job opportunities. Many are OTR and/or regional. I happen to be pursuing a local job and actually have an interview tomorrow morning with a big company. I attained my Haz-Mat, Doubles/Triples and Tanker endorsements while attending which has made me more marketable to stay local. I would recommend CDS to anyone looking to break into this field. They will teach you how to obtain your CDL and a job coordinator will provide job leads, the rest is up to you.

Oh yeah, CDS also just obtained two more trucks and the contract for Germanna Community College, which is actually a great CC. I think they have like a dozen or so trucks and many different trailers.

 

I started there and had to withdraw because the training was so poor . The school is a joke .
