Don’t be so darn negative! You guys were telling me months ago to find another job.... they are working on dealing with the mess and many of us are still with them.. I even got a dedicated route with a good pay increase.. so.... still with them.. still doing fine on my end!

Glad you're enjoying it. Driving in the "mountains" of West Virginia is the time your trainer should be teaching you how the descend WITHOUT the Jakes. They CAN and WILL stop in the middle of a decent for whatever reason. Don't be a Jake babby. I've been driving over 20 years and I'll still descend mountain grades out west without them a couple of times a month to make sure I still have the touch.

Next time you have a nice heavy load and a nice long step grade, have your trainer descend it without the Jakes. If he can't do it without smoking it,get a different trainer.

We are reducing our footprint: flatbed never was a profitable venue; you could drive regional or reefer; I’m sure

And how long before they decide to sell off the reefer division? Or decide that since they have no secure place to park they won't keep anyone from Savannah (or make them leave the truck in Atlanta)?

There will be some that will be safe, but you never known when the fickle finger of fate will do something alliterative to you. I'd rather leave on my schedule than theirs.

Sup ladies n fellas, TruckerAce48 here on week 4 with Celadon. Well, just to update you guys, things are still going, although not as planned but...going. This is the end of week 3, if I was going by celadons training schedule, I would have about 7500 of my 10,000 miles. Ufortunately for me, I don't, I have 6100 because our truck broke down while I was on the hwy at the start of week 2. So we were down for 5 days up in Morgantown, W. Va, dam motor went out. So celadon finally gave us another truck, now we back rolling. I'm averaging about 480-500 miles a day, because my trainer always stops us early to get a spot at sum dam truckstop, and I'll always have 2-3 hrs driving time still on my clock. If it was up to me I'd run my clock out every time, but it's not up to me. Still, I've learned a lot in these 3 weeks, especially about the ugly side of trucking. When we shutdown at the truckstops, I get to talk to and watch other drivers park, and share some trucking experiences with me. I've been sorta like a sponge, trying to absorb everything from everyone I can. Feel free to ask me questions

Wow! A train that doesn't run the miles out of his students. Be thankful it isn't twenty years ago. Back then, most of the big companies want training to last 3 months and/or 30,000 miles.

Right and I want to run as many miles and hrs possible. Although a few days I have ran 543, 578, 589, and 610. All i want to do is run,but his theory is that it's hard to find a parking spot after4 or 5 pm. Well, I sit there and watch trucks pull in n out allnite long like Lionel Ritchie lol
