The OP asked if anyone has experience with this program; I think I did a good job of explaining my experience and what to expect here. I don't see how i'm misleading anyone. I also applied at interstate because they have a similar program but celadon was just a little faster. Once again quality is a business.....If i didn't get it the way I wanted, I was prepared to leave.

As far as rates? ummm places like kllm pays their l/o .90cpm, swift/ usx a little over a dollar.

What advise am I not using? I got quotes from Arrows truck sales, united, compass, ryder and penske before I even went to Indianapolis. I also got quotes for insurance and fuel cards. After comparing the numbers and looking at the risk vs reward, the quality / cure was the best deal FOR ME. I also took out the truck payments that quality doesn't take out when you first start and put them into a account to start building some compound interest.

To the OP, I don't mean to hijack the thread but please me Mr. pearcetrucking please tell the class about you? We are all dying to know.....

Did you have a bad experience with quality companies? former employee of the Celadon Group?

    are you a o/o?

    How many years experience?

I like learning new things and networking with great people who share different thoughts about a topic but as far as me.....I'm from Chicago, born and raised in a low income family, sperm donor was never around so mom had to work full time living check to check. While in college I saw a ad hiring for part time school bus drivers and I thought that would fit my schedule. I applied, trained got my CDL a month after my 21st birthday. While in Community College I took criminal justice classes and found out I needed to take a math class to get my degree. Go figures. While in math class I learned some new words called "delayed gratification" and "net-worth". It got me really thinking about how money really works and how everyone should have a positive net-worth if only they were disciplined and knew the formula. (increase your assets and minimize your liabilities).

While working at my gov job I started researching and studying millionaires and different finance publications. I put together what I like to call a slideshow for the next 10 years which kind of predicts where me and my family should be.....I put in my two week notice, and left to chase a dream with a plan. I applied at USX and that didn't work out ( was making less $ then I was making driving a school bus part time) which was not part of my plan. After getting some real world experience, I tweaked my plan and i'm here at Celadon...

Come closer to the screen so I can let you in on a little secret.

My #1 goal of doing all of this is to create a networth of over a million dollars. Not looking to be rich rich just comfortable so 20, 40, 100 years from now my family has a nice nest egg. Money grows over time and that's a fact. I can show you using a calculator the compound interest formula.

So the highway_executive wants to be a millionaire now?

First you don't build your house on another man's land. That truck is a tool (rental)! I'm a visionary entrepreneur and working on several other projects non trucking related.

Second In order to do that, your'll got to have a plan that includes multiple sources of income and assets! One day I will own a fleet of trucks maybe a dozen or so not looking to be a mega. I've leave that for the great great grand kids lol but Let's take KLLM for a example. ....it's owned by the Duff Brothers.

    look at their website: http://duffcapitalinvestors.com/

They have a portfolio of businesses (assets) that produce them money. My goal is to create something similar to that of a group of businesses that interests me on a smaller level. Once again, the l/p is just a tool to get me a better position; I knew on Day 1 I was not paying off that quality truck; furthermore I don't want to be my aunt who's 60+ young who doesn't have a pension, retirement saved up working a full time job at a fast food joint unless it's a franchise I own.
I'm working hard now and living like no one else so later in life I can live like no one else.
Fact: There are more millionaires now then ever before. Look at other businesses; they all have something in common! failure and multiple sources of income. I also encourage you to read the 48 laws of power. Good book. I am not a expert so I don't expect you to agree with me or like my posts because it's my vision.

Everyday i'm learning something new are you?

Alright class! Here's tonight homework if you want to l/p anywhere!

What is it that YOU want out of it?

Remember it's never to late to start but If it was easy then everyone would be doing it!

Have you ever wondered where the richest place in America is?

The cemetery! because it's full of dead dreams from people who didn't or were to scared to try (not referring to the l/p but goals in general), so get out the pen and paper and create a plan.

    This is my point.

Highway executive, my goal here is not to tear you down. You have alot of energy, etc.

I made $2.40 on every odometer mile pulling reefer with my own authority last year. I'm not going to post numbers, you can take it or leave it. But I own my truck and trailer, and my payment was $1425 a month on my truck, not $3600+ based on the numbers in this thread.
So $.90 more per mile and $2175 less for truck payment that I own.
My insurance cost for authority is probably about $1000 a month more than yours. I get fuel discounts comparable to what you get. I get tire discounts from a very large carrier that are rock bottom prices (I run michelin). I do most all my own maintenance and do my fuel taxes, billing etc.
Noone tells me what to do. I come and go as I please. I book all my own freight with whoever I wish to.
I've been driving since 1998, owned my truck since 2002, and had my authority and owned my reefer trailer since 2012. You seem to have a good work ethic and long term plan. Pay attention to people who know whatever business you choose to enter.

    same thing I was thinking...

    Yes FSC for %

There is also layover/detention but I mostly do drop and hooks. One of my lanes you pick up from their location A and take it to their location B with a live unload at the drop. Never been delayed so I cant say what the pay would be.

I would have to double check, I know you can quit celadon immediately. quality is a little tricky depends on if your turning in the truck or moving it to another carrier I assume.

They will hold off on payments, I dont have the list of reasons why in front of me. I also would not spend those payments they didn't take out at the beginning if your tight on cash. Another point is that you have a little something saved up before you come.

I don't disagree with you on this. i'm crawling right now. I also applied for my authority last week and currently waiting out this "protest period". The insurance is much higher then Celadon's for sure.
I could have got their vendor to file my documents for me since I have insurance now and find me some cargo but I didn't want to be tied to them in case something happens.

Ryder and penske rates to rent/lease are around 800 a week plus mileage for maintenance. I don't use credit or never had a credit card ect so Dealers wanted a hefty down payment from me around $15k-30k plus a co signer. I did see some trucks around the $30k with no payment but still looking and learning what to buy and look out for. If I tear this truck up I could walk away no questions asked. I tear that one up and im SOL. Plus a lot of people don't just have that laying around if their on the l/p or want to tie up their capital if they do.

If I put it in my business name they want 2 years of business documents or a ein with good d&b trade lines. So i'm working on that now so in two years that looks good. Quality reports the payments I make to D&B for me so that's a start. Thanks for sharing!

Keep in mind Schneider ruined their program after way too many drivers signed on then they significantly cut their rates. Make a killing while things are going good and be ready to jump ship if/when they start starving people out.

You wasn't looking at my desk while everyone was at lunch were you?

Good point! Always have a exit strategy in-case things go south.

Speaking of Schneider, when I was running all over I would show up at a shipper sign in give them the load number and it was a Schneider or a bay and bay load....not sure what that was about or celadon double booking loads.
