I do everything I need to do in a safe manner. Out on the road is also our life, don't get to go home, so I will live it. If it comes to that I will absolutely quit and do something else. It's not about time management it's about our rights, and they are taking them away. You think we're hurting for drivers now?? Just wait. Real American's don't take kindly to taking away all their freedoms, especially when people like me have fought for them.

Really don't let them have your cell number???? That is part of the job!!! My last company wouldn't hire you unless you had a cell. You must have no life, family, or friends.

And yes we do have a choice. We love the company we're with, they have Qualcomm and call the cell phones! They are thriving and safe! Left the last company because everything they did was shady, but still had no issues with using the cell phones.

No problem, I know I can be a little short with people sometimes, but I don't get offended. Everything has the right to say what they want, including me and you.

Who do you assume gives a dang if you have a phone in a truck? Yeah your company might but I would imagine they have no problem with a lunch break where your calls would be possible, time at the dock, or as noted time management enough to alot yourself "phone time". Your convenience is not the concern. Other's safety is.

Believe it or not the technology is coming, most likely mandated by the FCC on a recommendations of the NTSB and the FHWSA.People are sick of others causing harm through negligence. Hence the stricter rules for conduct, the new systems for tracking transgressions, and the more severe penalties. Myself I support the outright ban. People got along just fine for thousands of years without cell phones, they will continue to bepreathe without being attached to them 24/7.

Having it in your truck is one of the issues, or haven't you read the posts? If your answer is people got along without them before, then WTF are you sending messages on, something people didn't have before right!!! Go be Amish you hypocrite.

You are in the wrong country if you think it's okay to take all peoples rights away. Again, never been in nor caused an accident, if you will then don't use them, maybe go back to driving school.

Also, we have the technology to do a lot of things, that doesn't mean they have the right to use it anywhere, anytime, against anyone.

When did it become a Right to have a cell phone? I can't find it in the U.S. Constitution or any of it's Amendments. I see lots of Rights listed there, but I can't find the cell phone one.
BTW, the company does have the Right to say what optional equipment and devices are allowed in the truck they either own or control through a lease.

Well let's set a couple of your fallacies straight.

    A) You have no right to operate on public roads. You are granted a privilege to operate..
    B) As mentioned above you have no right to a cell phone.
    C) The discussion was originally about using a cell phone in a company truck while on duty driving.
    D) I have no problem restricting my use to appropriate times, however seeing the people who can not leads to my support of the ban.

In addition I'll add a couple observations.
Those that shout the loudest of their service in general did the least.
Dragging irrelevant driving school suggestions speaks to the strength of your argument.

You have the right to purchase and own a weapon. You have no right to use your weapon on a public roadway either.
Now you would have the right of self defense and could use said weapon for that purpose.

You have the right to purchase and own a cell phone. You do not have a right to it's use on a public road. For now the law allows limited use varying by vehicle and location.

You have the right to purchase and own a bottle of Junior Johnson's Blue Moon. You do not have the right to it's use on a public road.

    See the pattern yet?

Helping out someone who's interested in this career is NOT irrelevant. I observe that people don't have a clue and just wan to argue. We have rights and you guys would be the first to blow up about them I bet, unless someone else is and you just want to argue the opposite.

Shout the loudest really, did you serve???? I just made a very small one time comment that I did. You again just want to be a jerk.
