How exactly is it a huge hit to our 1st amendment rights? The content of your speech has not been censored. You have also not been told that you cannot use the phone. The ban simply states is that if you choose to use the phone, and if you cannot do so in a "hands free" manner, then you must find a safe place to park the truck while you talk on the phone. They don't want you driving down the road with a phone glued to your ear (although, ironically enough, that WOULD make the phone "hands free"....).

or they just put a ban on cell phone use while DRIVING ??
If you think you have a Constitutional RIGHT to talk on a cell phone while driving you you better re-read the Constitution and get into a different occupation..corneileous and Tazz Thank this. -
we have talked on cb radios for years whats the difference
-
Cell phones can be used to talk to anybody anywhere in the world. The person on the other end of the phone isn't likely going to know where you are, what the traffic conditions are like, what the weather is doing, or what safety hazards might lie ahead of you. There are no safety benefits to cell phone usage while driving. -
that was no answer,we would talk for hours on end just like cell phone....so once again what is the difference
-
What was your proximity to the person with which you were talking? I'm guessing either they were running your front door, or you were running theirs. I'm sure within your conversation were brief interruptions such as "car on the shoulder", "catching up to a slow mover", "you're clear to move back over", "losing a lane up ahead", "brake lights up ahead", etc. to help alert each other to what was going on around you as you made your way up the road.
That's the difference. The cell phone isn't limited to a short distance. That person on the other end of the line 3 or 4 states away doesn't know & doesn't care what is going on around your truck. They cannot help alert you to potential hazards up ahead. They serve NO useful purpose as you are driving down the road. -
we ran together for 2 hrs had not seen each other for some time we are both stick haulers, talked constantly for those 2 hrs getting caught up.oh we were running 75-80 to was that bad to....no difference

Tell 'em to spend the money on a CB and then you wouldn't have to worry about the ban.
