I made a voluntary decision to no longer use my phone while driving. That being said, I don't like someone telling me I can't. Anytime someone tells me what to do or what not to do, it brings out my rebellious streak.

there is already a device which is out and it is a small receiver - antenna which sits in front of the driver and will detect and send a message to the company regarding cell phone use while driving...

NY tickets 118,000 drivers under texting law

Texting-while-driving ban took effect last July

NEW YORK — Police in New York state have ticketed more than 118,000 motorists for using cellphones behind the wheel since a strict new law took effect in July, the governor who signed the law said on Monday.
Ticketing rates for texting while driving have more than doubled since then, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said.
Texting and other handheld cellphone use is blamed for the deaths of more than 5,000 people and injuries to more than 440,000 people nationwide each year, said Barbara Fiala, commissioner of the Department of Motor Vehicles.
New York's new law made using any kind of electronic handheld device while driving a primary offense, meaning police can pull over drivers for that reason alone.
Previously, police could only issue cellphone use tickets after stopping drivers for some other reason, such as a broken taillight, making it a secondary offense.
As a result, the number of people ticketed for texting while driving has more than doubled. Between January 1 and July 11, 2011, police gave out 2,691 tickets to drivers who were sending text messages. Since July 12, they have issued 7,495 such tickets, the governor said.
In the months after the law was toughened, police issued 111,262 tickets to drivers using handheld devices in some way besides texting.
"These tickets should send a resounding message to all drivers: keep your eyes on the road and your hands on the wheel," Cuomo said in a statement.

When the income from these tickets get out I'm quite sure more states will follow suit. What speakes louder than words? Money! We can piss and moan all we want here on this forum, money talks, doo doo walks.

Finally, a smart phone that isn't very smart.

Please, understand I'm only talking about the phone.

A diaper change, sure lol. Lets meet up and see about that eh?

I agree that, if the company has a policy either follow it, move on, or buy your own. I agree completely. But I was responding to your ignorant statement that you "loved the law because it gave you an excuse".

Unlike you "I" control my house. I dont need an excuse to not answer the phone, I just dont answer it. I return the call when I want to return the call. I dont need the government making laws to help me make decisions.

Lots of discussion, why not just say I don't have a phone?
If they have that device that detects it just figure how to disable it.
    Problem solved..
Or get your own and tell them to ##.

    chalupa Thanks this.
