i started with no experieance almost 11 years ago

i have had plenty of hot loads, they just suck

i never had to climb in the drum to chip it out and i never will, its in our contract that we dont have to

inexperianced drivers start at 70% of scale and it takes 2 years to get scale in the Chicago area

Hourly is the only fair way really, with standby time, chute pours, pump jobs, etc. Lots of variables that can keep you out longer than expected.

2 liters of 7-UP will slow down a couple yards for a couple hours...if you are in that situation. A full truck, 3-5 bottles and you're good to sit for a few hours.

What about the drum revolution meters?
I have seen gooberment inspectors reject a load based on too many revolutions on the mix.....

We had a pour in front of WDI in Burbank (animation studios) where the boneheaded superintendent ordered 2% CC........This was for a Saturday...he wanted to go home early......he neglected to tell the foreman it was a hot load....Not to mention when the truck arrived at 10 am...it was already 95* out.........

The foreman and a labor (I was headed to a landfill to dump a load) tamped, screeded, and floated and went to get a drink....By the time they got back...15 minutes later....The mix was set........:biggrin_25524:

True, but our concrete division is a smaller outfit, no city/county/governement work. We dont want to pay the big bucks to have all of our mix designs core tested and all that. So we stick with the homeowners and smaller contracters. We do a lot of colored loads, pool decks, driveways, sidewalks, mow strips, and sell all the color hardeners and release agents for stamping, etc.

That being said, we rarely deal with inspectors and most contractors dont even know we have the rev counters lol.

    Yeah...CALTRANS is effing picky.....

When a contractor breaks a "Flag" (panel) on highway....the whole "Flag" has to be replaced....

Some highways have monolithic pours with expansion joints instead of "cold" joints....

And even some of those had curb and gutter poured monolithic with the sidewalk....So that makes them under CALTRANS jurisdiction......

Anyone know where to exactly look when searching for a mixer job? I searched high and low and find nothing on the net. I live in NJ.

Local yellow pages....find out who is advertising and call them up. Only problem with that, a lot of companies have cut that advertising expense out of their budget due to economic times.
