Stop listening to all the ######## advice I've been in trucking since 1991 and I also own a single car setup I average about $125000 after expenses a year u just have to know how to operate properly and can't be lazy I have less overhead and maintenance u have an advantage they don't, time is money I'm home every night and make $500 - $600 a day I get better gas mileage I get better loads (hotshots) you can go where they can't make sure u have a winch. So don't let these comments discourage you I heard the same stupid remarks when I done it 10 years ago I laugh every time I pass them on my back haul home and they just found that 3rd or 4th car the more cars u can haul the less money u make per mile per car.

That's because they are. At least for your set up. You need to really connect with customers directly instead of going through brokers.
Get yourself a facebook page and join the car hauling groups.
Get a basic website so the retail customer feels you are legit.
Connect with larger carriers in the area to do short haul deliveries in areas that might be a bit too far out of their way.
Go to your local copart and iiaa or look them up online for a list of auto brokers that purchase for them. Make connections.
Make sure you are on Google my business. Easier for retail private owners to reach you.
get on any directory business or car transport specific you can.

Can someone please post some typical rates from Central Dispatch. Should be typical small to midsize cars as well as pickups.

Westcoast to Eastcoast and east to west. 2000+ miles.

edit.. ahh crap someone bumped a 2016 topic......

I wont say you can not make it work, but you probably can't make it work off of something like central dispatch just trying to haul 1 car at a time off a load board. With something that small you need to figure out some way to find a niche so you can get better money per mile than just the average car.. Maybe look at stuff like golf carts, maybe motor cycles, or other stuff of that sort of nature. Things that might be over looked by regular car haulers but still a bit of a PITA for a flat deck guy to load up easy.

Example I see motorcycles all the time on uship getting bidded up there for near the same price as cars. Figure out a way to set up some sort of easily removable wheel chock set up for motor cycles and start hauling 4 at a time cross country as partial loads. Just hop scotch around doing small stuff like that and only load cars when you have too or find a good priced one. at $600 to 700 each you can stack up a $2k load. Hell load the front ones sideways and maybe get 6 on it...

You HAVE to find a niche.. again I wont say you can't make it work but trying to do 1 car at a time is gonna be hard. I also think you should not just ignore uship.. yeah it's a pita but probably better to find niche stuff there than CD.. Also.. with a flat deck like that you might be able to do some small freight stuff assuming you can properly tie it down and don't forget your truck bed is open if you are hauling a bumper drager... Not meaning focus on that but picking up extra $300 loads for some small stuff in your route..

No matter what to make that work it will be hard and you have to go niche..
