Anyone have any experience with central oregon trucking? I see there trucks all around. I would like to make a move from driving reefers to flatbeds within the next couple years. Anyone have good or bad to say about central oregon? Their website says they start a person at like .40+ for their quad fleet. This is what I'd like to doany info would be appreciated.

I don't think I have ever seen a load on one of their trailers that isnt tarped.

yeah im pretty sure they tarp 100 % of their loads. now that you say it i also have never seen a load not tarped

I just left them about two months ago. They're a good outfit to get your feet wet in flatbed work, new or newer equipment, they'll definitely keep you busy and the miles in front of you. The pay that they'll tell you (.40cpm) is an average between mileage pay, tarp pay and bonuses. The actual cpm is going to be .32-.35 depending on experience. They will teach you how to tarp and general securement. Expect to tarp almost EVERYTHING, in two months I only had two untarped loads. They do a lot of lumber and drywall work. No OD/OS loads so all legal loads. They will tell you the routing they want you to go, where to fuel and how much.

I work on COTC's quad fleet. It works for me, partly because there in my back yard and I get the home time I need. Only slept in the truck three nights last week. You got to be in the PNW and be able to go Canada for the quads. With the Quads you can be home weekends if you want. I only run M-F primarily. About half the Quad drivers stay out weekends. Where you live matters on how easy you can get routed home just like with any driving job. The Quad base pay is .32-.35 plus .05/mi. What Dieseldog said about the average is right on. My average so far this year is just above .47/mi. Tarping isn't that tough once you get the hang of it. Took me two months to get proficient enough I wasn't killing myself. Now I tarp 30-40min consistently some times less on a nice square load, and takes about 20min to get them off and put away. You get $30 to tarp. Tarping is what discourages a lot of first time flat bed drivers. Not everyone wants to deal with it. Wind is your biggest enemy. The ads for Quads say the average is 52K/year. I made that in the last year so I know its right. They would prefer the 2 years flatbed exp. but if you have a clean record and good job history they'll take you. You'll learn the most by helping other drivers tarp and just being out there doing it. Good luck.

Below you will see a side by side comparison of our current pay scale. This scale will be converted into a "New Base Pay Scale". We have eliminated all half cent pay and have reduced the number of Base Pay levels. So if you are at a half cent per mile you will automatically receive a half cent per mile raise to the next closest pay scale provided. If you are currently at .37, .38, .39, or .40 you will remain at the base scale until a review has been done on your overall performance. But, do not worry, even our .37 base pay scale drivers will be able to immediately earn up to a minimum of .42 cents and a maximum of .445 cents per mile!!
The above scale is based on monthly fuel MPG as reported by your ECM. (Re-set your dashboard ECM fuel mileage after your last delivery each month so you can self monitor)For every tenth of a mile per gallon that a driver achieves above 5.8MPG he or she will be paid a half cent per mile for every mile driven each month! Maximum performance award is 3 cents per mile based on fuel mileage of 6.4 MPG or better. (For the period of June1-Dec 31[SUP]st[/SUP] 27% of our QUAD fleet was above the threshold)
In order to qualify a driver must achieve 80% compliance with your fuel plan solutions (In the month of January over 40% of COTC were compliant).
Note: if for any reason your ECM is inoperable we will use actual. Odometer computations do not count as we do not calibrate odometers.
Example:
Driver John Doe earning .39 cents per mile who achieves 6.2 miles per gallon for a month, and is 80% compliant with his or her fuel solutions will now be paid .41 cents per mile for every dispatched mile driven!
