Got screwed by Swift 11 years ago because I refused to train with a smoker. Paid $4000 for my cdl and ended up working for a sanitation company. I earn over 60k a year and am home nights and weekends. Depends on what you want. There are other options. Most local companies can care less about a dac. You can find coke, pepsi, miller, busweiser, sysco foods etc in most midsized cities throughout the states. These companies pay at least 35k a year and you get to sleep in the house u pay for.

Well I know this is an old thread that I started, just wanted to give an update. I am still with Swift. I am solo and loving it. As soon as my year is up im going with a local company like Conway or Old Dominion.

And one more thing. I found out that the reason why Swift was the only company that would hire me. Its because I took a refresher course at Smith and Solomon truck school. that school has a hiring agreement with swift

Greyhound is good if you are willing to work part time on the extra board until you get a run. can take 6months to a year.

and if you want to get hired with greyhound go to the terminal were you want to work out of and ask to talk to the terminal manager. tell him you want to drive. and he will tell you what to do. and he will hire you if he needs you. dont go to the website. the website gets thousands of applicants.
