Having spent the last four years at central and three of them being an active trainer based in the West Valley terminal, I have never experienced this nor have I ever heard of any incident. The only issue even remotely close to a religious bent is a request that drivers watch their language around campus buildings.

Watching your language is about being professional more than a religious thing in my mind. I would say the NO beer policy even when you're not on the truck is religious, but it could be that they figure if you drink in WVC you will drink on the road.

Just to add to your original "alcohol consuming" comment, not only is this not a good idea but just to give everyone a heads up, for the most part Salt Lake is a fairly "dry" city. As everyone knows it is comprised of mostly Mormon religion and their beliefs in alcohol are a little different than others. With that being said, Central and the office staff are also comprised of mostly Mormon religion and are a little more strict in their driver code and ethic. What some companies may think is ok may not be the case with Central. Yes you are on a continuing interview for the duration of your schooling and orientation and need to conduct yourself a little more highly then normal.
On a more personal note, Mormon or not drinking or consuming alcohol during your training and new job interview really isn't the best thing to do. Its only for a short time so maybe tighten up and put the drinking on hold. If anything it will be good practice for your new career as you will not have those beers after work on a daily basis anymore. -
Worst part of trucking by far, but who has time for a pint when there's only 10 hours to eat, bathe, sleep, and then get ready to drive again anyway?
