Do they hire company? When we were on it, company could be on it, but then they switched to all lease ops, and I never heard if they opened it to company drivers again.

Intermodal pays about what local work does, and that changes depending on what part of the country you're in. You're generally looking in the low to mid teens per hour.
-
Oh its hourly? I thought they did by the load. I guess Im not quite sure what the difference between intermodal and local is.
-
yes company drivers can be on coors but their service and safety record has to be dang near spotless. Of coarse it's hard to service fail when most of your loads are either drop and hooks or have a 0600-1500 fcfs window. But safety is a real issue with some of the really tight places we go and the heavy loads. The load that I delivered this morning went to this tiny one dock distributor in Bow NH. Had to drive through a neighborhood to get to it. My gross weight for the load was 79940 with a half tank of fuel and a quarter of def. so I played the fuel game all the way from Milwaukee.
-
Yep we are... For us it's a loop... All loaded miles (we are on the old fuel plan). Good thing is its consistent and we know what we will earn pending variations in fuel prices/fuel surcharge and fuel mileage... Bad thing is if we want/need more than one day off (sanity or work on the truck) we have to take a full week!!

Does anybody else ever just say screw it I'm idling today? I've been lucky staying out of the heat so far and I don't mind sweating a little but not today! Lol

Ive got that big cummins singing me to sleep tonight myself.Arkansas Frost Thanks this.

Ive been thinking about idling, and how to stay under the 30% in the summer. But I figure screw it, Ill just stop all the other idling, like when Im checking in a shipper, or running in the bathroom. and then just stay comfortable at night.

Central needs to put apu's on their trucks. I really don't know the reasoning behind not using them. They would more than pay for themselves in the first lease cycle of a truck then they could pull it off and put it on another truck basically as a free unit. I'm having a Go green APU installed in 2 weeks on this truck.
Arkansas Frost Thanks this. -
Since we're paying for the fuel... Yep! Thankfully we don't have to sit too much, but when we do we stay comfortable!!Arkansas Frost Thanks this.
