Central Refrigerated Truck Stop

You sir are wrong!!!!! First off I was a lease operator and I did make more money then I could of imagined. I have a disease known as Multiple Sclerosis. Central decided to one day randomly suspend my driving privlages at random (On a truck that I was paying for). This was in Boise, ID. I live in Portland. They first wanted me to get seen by a doctor in Boise....I did with full release to there specs. 2 days later they get around to telling me that I must go see my Doctor in person. By the way who is one of the most recognized MS doctors there is. So I had to rent a car....drive to Portland, see my doctor, get his release statement along with Centrals. I did what they asked. This was Thursday by this time. Central said we will get back to you by tomorrow(Friday). Friday came and nothing. I had to sit another weekend and wait till Monday while all along my stuff and truck was sitting unattended with full tanks. I had finally had enough by this time and decided to start driving back to Boise.....because by this time it was either start driving again, or walk away. I mean how long would you continue to wait around for a decision while going broke and paying for a truck they were telling you that you could not drive??????? Even though I did everything they were asking. During my drive I got ahold of them and they then stated that "there" doctor needed to speak with "my" doctor. Not gonna happen. It takes months just to get an appt. unless you are a good known patient so I knew It would never happen. By this time my doctor was sick of them and there "requirements" anyways. Well Oregon along with other states has the HIPA law that allows me the right to not have my information discussed over the phone with anybody unless I sign a waiver. I told this to Central that it is my lawful choice and that my doctor was not going to be discussing my information over the phone to some cut rate nurse that thinks they know it all. And that he will simply say what is exactly on the release papers anyways. They then stated that "I was putting myself out of work"!!!!! At this time the only nice thing they did was medically disqualify my lease so I was not stuck with it or an abandonment. We walked away free and clear of each other. This was back in August of 2010. My truck had 65k on it and was in prime shape. They charged me for the most ridiculous things when they got it back. Such as grease on the fifth wheel plate, taking out my HID headlights and putting stock back in, putting stock wipers back on, screwing on CB antennas that were already there. I even got a collection paper in the mail 2 MONTHS AGO stating I owed them $625 dollars for 2 new steer tires!!!! When I havent even been in the truck for 6 months. They claimed that I was the last person to lease it and it was my responsibility. But how can they say this after I already recieved a final bill for charges and a positive final paycheck????? Mind you this whole time I was paying for a hotel because my truck I was told I couldnt even start. So I would get the facts straight before you flap your mouth off about how Im an idiot and dont know the laws. Then also tell me how I was getting money from Central in unemployment if I was a self contractor??!?!?!? Because the state fought them in court and Central lost!!! So they got stuck paying me 6500 dollars for wrong judgement for release. And for the record.....the companys pay your unemployment not the state...thats why companys fight it moron.

 

Oh i agree there. I was happy when I was working for them. Made plenty of money and lots of nice folks. Never had a single complaint. But now I look back and realize what a company like them is all about. They hire all these students because thats how many drivers are leaving. Not to mention the checks from the government...wink...wink....

 

Never realized just how many purple trks that TA has. Am in Maqoketa and there's 2 of us here. Yes I was in IA that day but doubt it was me you saw. Was doing the over night drive bit.

 

First I am sorry you have MS.. if it was under control why did Central care. There had to be something that brought to there attention..

Actually the state and federal government pays for unemployment. Employers pay a very small stipend into the program.. all of 2-3 dollars a week... before you call me a moron again my facts come from dept. of worforce development where my wife works.. yours come from where??? Companies usually ignore the request from the unemployment office unless an EMPLOYEE was terminated.. as a lease owner you are NOT an employee of Central. That's why you have to pay all thoses extra taxes to the IRS.

So now tell us the rest of the story..

 

I want to say it was around MM 80 around 1630. The driver was wearing an orangeish red shirt.

 

sorry to hear this deisel junkie. I know how this company works and it doesnot suprise me one bit they did this. I see them needing a truck to lease to a new guy and the probablly didn't have any at the time so you were an easy target to get out of the truck release it to someone else ,charge you all kinds of junk and bs fees. They make money on that and keep the vicious cycle of old drivers and students flowing.

 

Well, my batteries started SMOKING, filled the truck full of nice smoke from the smoke genie. I jumped up, killed the truck, removed the battery box cover on the ole Volvo, two of the 4 had released acid-water out of the posts, of a sealed batt. I called OTRM, they asked me to crank it again, and BAM, the alt locked up instantly chunking a 9' long belt. So my truck is down till the am, when a mechanic can drive 180 miles roundtrip to source the belt, alt and new batts. I am at a nice motel though, ordered chicago style pizza, and have hot breakfast for the morning from the motel. Lucky, I was on a 34hr reset when this happened, all ive lost so far is a 42 mile run to my 99.

I was broken down on I85 in atlanta and I was asked to bang on the tandem drums and report if they sounded like bell.. ok sure my hearing is beyond good, but 8 lanes of traffic all blowing by me at 65 during rush hour. Yep I could hear a bell --- NOT

When I reminded him how close I was to the scene of the last Central truck broke down there I got help...

 

Sorry about your MS. I dont think you not being employed by central is your fault. I am leaning toward's your doctor being at fault.

Here is the problem here.. This is not necessarily true. I used to work in a pharmacy so I know how HIPPA works! Your interpretation of the HIPPA law is generally accurate BUT there are exceptions to the rule. Yes, all states have a HIPPA law, it's actually federal law. The wavier would apply to family members, friends and caretakers. It does not apply to multiple healthcare providers sharing a common patient, which would be you. There could have been something on the release that needed clarification. We dont know exactly what happened there. BUT working with many doctors before, most are arrogant with a God complex towards other healthcare providers. However, they tend to be nice in front of their patients. So I'm more inclined to think that your doctor wouldn't clarify something on the release. IF your doctor didnt talk to Central's doctor or nurse, then they have every right to disqualify you due to something on the release being unclear. I did it all the time in pharmacy when doctors didn't justify the use of high priced brand name meds when there is a generic alternative available that does the same exact thing. No justification means no payment. Same situation applies here. No clarification means a possible disability claim against them.

It sucks that what happened to you, but unless you were on conference call with Central's doctor/nurse we dont know what really happened.

 

they want me to lug around 4 batteries, an alt, and a shredded belt, until I make to a terminal. I have no where to load 4 batts, the alt is fine, but not batts. Actually, its prob unsafe to have them in the cabin.
