When you are training you get 350 for 3 weeks then 400 for the last week. You do not get mileage pay.

1 bad is running all over the northern states looking for a trailor now. Good thing he gets dead head miles. They sent him drum nj to De no trailor there now he is heading to pa to get one.

When Rhino went thru school his pay was:

    Student Pay: Weeks 1-2 $425/week*[IMG]Weeks 3-4 $500/week*

Has it changed since December 08?

Rak, I don't mean to be a wet blanket, but better for you to be mad at me now than mad at me later.

I would not base your household expenses on 13,000 miles per month, especially as a company driver.

When I was with Central, the fleet average was 2400/miles per week. I would use that for your planning, and then anything above that will be gravy.

    jess-juju and rakusa Thank this.

One thing that would make this job a LOT less stressful on the finances is if the layover and breakdown pay would be enough to even out the loss of mileage. Then you could more accurately plan your income.

Jess, now that you have been a Lease Operator, how do you like it? Are you making more money than a company driver and is the stress worth it?

Well, here's another testament to the fact you should never trust a recruiter. I was all set to fly to Salt Lake saturday to start school monday. I get a call from someone named Sarah today and she tells me I cannot come to school because I have previous driving experience and held a cdl before. I told her that my recruiter knew this, he even asked me for the cdl license #! I told him I didn't know it anymore cause I gave my Missouri cdl up for an Alabama drivers license. She said she was sorry but I wasn't eligible for their program and she's real sorry about the $150.00 I blew on a plane ticket that I can't use! I am beyond pissed! I made sure when I talked to this recruiter that everything was squared away before I bought this plane ticket and he said "everything looks great, see ya when ya get here". So now i'm $150.00 poorer and a whole lot wiser. If anyone else plans on going to Central's school you CAN'T have previous experience. Wish someone had told me that!:biggrin_25510:

Yep we do like it more then a company driver!!

It is stressful when the truck has a problem and you have to wonder will it be a warranty job or not.

But all in all JJ loves it and is happy he went Lease.......We intend to buy out the Pete when the Lease is finished, Purchase the extra years warranty and run a year leased onto Central and then we will see what happens.

Jess, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you and JJ. Seems like all your hard work is paying off.

Tragic Magic, I'm so sorry to hear what happened to you. I have been keeping up with your posts and it seems you have done everything like you should have done it. I sincerely feel bad for your situation.
