I chose central over the others. Higher training pay, higher start rate, and the let me go to a school close to home.
So far I have been very happy with them.. I agree faster trucks let you getin trouble faster..
central refrigeration or us express

does US Express all Automatics? If so if i drove US directly out of school, then a year later wanted to go with a company that uses a 10 speed manual, would it be more difficult to get that job, or if you forget somewhat how to shift?

USX is going back to all manual transmisions. Bought 2400 10 speeds this year

sounds good. I'm on the northeast end of the country, I'm still trying to figure out which company to go with directly out of school. US Express is high on the list, also thinking about Roehl, TransAm, and Schneider. I'm thinking I want to go OTR with a company and have the ability to transfer to a regional or dedicated after 6 mo or so within the same company. Actually USX is offering a dedicated position right now on the east coast for dollar general account I believe, but I'm not sure i want to do that right out of school, though it does seem to pay more, but it appears rightfully so because you have to unload everything it looks. I guess what I'm looking for is good miles starting at least .28 cpm, i don't want to have to wait hours to find loads. I just want to run miles with not much wait time, but also want to be able to get home when i need. Any ideas on comparison of these companies with this criteria?

The problem with us express. they dont pay u the same for all miles . Your still a truck driver rather you drive 50mi or 600. But they discriminate on the mileage pay . there only a cpl trucking companies that do that . Why cause nobody likes it the only 1s that do dont know any better. You might get paid better on short miles but you ask the recruiter it all avg out to .32 mile . that the the way there system runs its all computer generated. The system is designed to make them money based on the sliding pay scale . Its not designed to make you money.MY advise work for a medium size company they keep you running cause they got bills to pay. LARGE companies to many hands in the cookie jar.20%of there fleet can sit for days they still make money . question is do you wanna be one of 20%. MEDIUM companies keep you running there is no 20%.

Good company work for whiteline express . Plymouth michigan small company they pull for protor gamble. they make soap bottles for them. You work for a company like this you work for the shipper not just a trucking company. They pay you 35mi to start practical miles. home during the week . only have to work everyother weekend otr. sum drivers get home every weekend thats the deal they got. and they pay you 1400.00 every year christmas bonus. Medium company RESPECT for there drivers. PRACTICAL miles.what more could you ask for. I almost forgot there insurance for family bout 68.00 a week 32.00 single . Now why cant other companies pay you like this. BECAUSE THEY DONT HAVE TO BECAUSE THEY KNOW WE ARE FOOLS FOR THERE GAME . SO WAKE UP
