I am a new owner and am just starting my own car hauling business. I want to try and do it on my own, so I don't have to pay 10% to someone else for finding loads. I have a 5-car trailer and want to get my loads from centraldispatch. My company is new, just starting, so no ratings or anything. I am worried that a lot of brokers won't give me loads because of that. So the main things I want to know are:
1. How/when do I get a payment after I deliver a vehicle?
2. How long does it usually take for you guys to agree on the price, sign the paperwork and get a confirmation for each car?
3. Very basic question, but very important - when I call the broker, what do I say. Is it like "hi, I saw a listing on centraldispatch and I would like to take this car from you"? Then what? Do they quickly check your DOT/MC numbers, your insurance, company record and agree/do not agree to give you the vehicle? And if they agree, do they send a fax with confirmation for you to sign and that is basically it?
For those of you who did that for a long time, my questions might be silly. But as a new owner I am worried about these little details and there is no one I know who can explain me those things.
As always, thanks a lot, I really appreciate it.
CentralDispatch and how to use it?

Payment depends. Someone's it's cod or cash on demand, and other typtimes it's quick pay.
DriverLLC Thanks this. -
1. How/when do I get a payment after I deliver a vehicle? Depends, some are COD, (Cash On Delivery), some COP, (Cash on Pickup), some are Quick Pay, (2-15 days) and some are 30 days or more.
2. How long does it usually take for you guys to agree on the price, sign the paperwork and get a confirmation for each car? Usually the price is set, you can try to talk them to a higher price but you usually have a better chance of winning the lottery twice.
You call, give them the ID number listed on the ad or where it picks up and delivers, some will look at your record and info, some want you to list them as a certificate holder on your insurance.DriverLLC Thanks this. -
Thank you very much for the info, it's been very helpful
what is that and how do I do that? I've never heard of such thing
Thanks again

Thanks for the explanation. Wow, that seems like a lot of headache calling the insurance company every time you get a load
-
That is good to know

Most don't ask for it, but for higher value loads with good brokers you will. The brokers working out of their kitchen with a cell phone, computer and fax machine, could care less.
I now keep a list of all the companies that require this, that way, when I renew my insurance, I just send the list to the insurance company to get those all knocked out right away.TopNotchTnT and Hammer166 Thank this. -
That is a great tip, thanks
