centramatic balancers

I run b.f. st 244 0n my steers with centramatics. good moeny spent on the balancers. usually get 140,000 on steers. have 315,000 on drives kelly k.d.a. will replace them real soon. maybe last until spring. march-april. kelly lugs bounce my truckk too much. thought about going to yoko lug, preety good deal at times at loves, but from the reviews I read not sure now. maybe go with all position on drives.

 

All position = faster wear on your drive tires.

 

I know. I should know what type tire I want by now, but I don't. all position give better ride, better m.p.g. but does not last as long. if I could find a good drive, I may try them again. the good cost for sure. the money saved just on fuel would pay for a set of 8. but that only works out if, if you put the extra money away at each week. big difference in m.p.g. the all position also would get more punctures over their life span too.

I'm on pins and needles! I'd also like to hear how well a tire patch sticks to that antifreeze soaked tire when he has a flat!

 

I don't think that would matter. when I had tire repairs, the tech would grind clean & dry the area to be patched. a lil eather & a match over the 3 or 4 inch area should get it dry.

 

I have been in the tire business for almost 25 years. I have seen farm tractors with antifreeze filled tires (for ballast for added traction) come into our shop for repair. The tires for lack of a better explanation feel super spongy. The antifreeze actually penetrates into the carcass of the tire. Compare a new radiator hose to one with plenty of miles. What difference do you feel? If you bring a tire into our shop for a repair and it has antifreeze in it that tire will leave as flat as it came in!! Some places do things different than we do, not saying our way is the only way but tires are more dangerous than everybody thinks! If you want to do antifreeze in your tires go for but I would'nt do it in mine.

 

I thought about installing all position tires on my drive axle....Never heard that all position tires wear faster if they on drive axles...Just wondering why is that???

 

all-positions tend to have less tread depth. Like 15/32 instead of 26/32 or more. Just what I have noticed on them.

So do they really wear faster? or just start out lower?
