I have been looking at Bandag 4100 and FCR retreads along with another style more traditional lugged with solid shoulders..

The 4100 have 18/32, the FCR are at 12/32 and the solid shoulder with lugs have 26/32.

It works great and never had an issue. the anitfreeze keeps the liquid from freezing and finds ALL the spots SMOOTHLY to give the best balance. As for repairs. when you repair a tire at a tire shop you have to clean the inner liner including things like equal, liquid balance, sealers, bead set glue. than you have to trim/grind the inner liner smooth. glue a patch in and volcinze. so antifreeze does not affect repairs

I worked at Valley Tire in belle vernon pa for years. doing everything from quad tires, car/truck tires, comerical truck tires, farm tires, and heavy equipment. I have done everything from changing, patching, foam filling, calsium filling and section repairs. I run antifreeze as well as alot of people whos tires i changed and i never saw eveidence of tire damage from anti freeze. Your line about it softens rubber look at rad hoses....those hoses soften because of the high temps they recieve not the anti freeze rubber softens as it get hot..........if the place you worked for kicked out tires with anti freeze why, what about the hundreds of liquid or powder or bead balancers for inside tires. i have seen equal shred inner liners i have seen liquids crum up the wheel. have not seen anti freeze do any of this. I would like to know what shop you worked and where so that i can avoid a rip off company like that......matter of fact i have seen more damaged tires due to crap tire shops using way to much bead sealer and eating the bead away because the tire doesnt seat correctly.......

My tire jobs never failed. I have put in major section repairs in tire like the 33-65R35 pic below with out ever having a leak or a blow out. now anyone who knows air pressure understands that even though these tires only take 35 to 55 PSI knows that the pure volume of air at that pressure if blown is like a bomb going off. so take it for what you want. I know my rep i know my tires. and i know this works great ttt.jpg

the hunter rep was at the kw shop on monday for training
they spent 6 hours showing the guys correct procedures for 3 axle alignment on my truck
    everything appeared to be checked
toe on front axle passenger side was out .25
they dismounted tires checked wheels for balance
remounted tires used a measuring tool check bead width for proper seating
    looked at king pins etc
a couple of small shims on drive axles
smooth as my wifes butt now
    we will see what happens
my original steer tire that was still good has 12/32 after 182000
drives all original have 9-10/32 all b f goodrich
got a used tire from our shop to match the good one

Anyone interested in all position tire - take a look at General S371. Few of my friends and I run them on our steers - few also run them all around, even on their trailers. We're sold!

Also for those running Centramatics - keep an eye on them. They're great when they work but when they get "old" (over 5 yrs?) and the beads disintergrates - prepare to spend some $$. I still got mine but my friends' were over 7yrs old and he spent some $$ trying to chase down the problem. A shop in Bloomington CA caught the culprit, finally took one off and cut it open and we got to see it first hand.

That's why I run balence masters. Mercury filled. I don't sound like I'm holding burakas while rolling slow.

hi if you redforeman have weird wear inside on drives means you dont have enough pressure in your air bags,im almost 99% sure of it ,if all other things as driveshafts ,shocks, air ride height ,wheel bearings, center bearing are ok....3/4 of my bosses 150 trucks fleet do that,i also bought my truck from him but as o/o im getting better maintnace, they try different tires makes and model, diff pressure 90,100 and 110 psi ...they changed many air ride valves so it helps but for very short time, hey just hired new tire/wheel specialist expirienced mechanic and after i spoke he said that my air bags are not inflated properly, he recommended start with air manifold valve so i replaced (volvo has it between batteries and tranny inside frame) then air ride valve suply tube (found a little leak at air manifold)so i relaced it, next air ride height valve got inspected and is good, next all air tubes supplying air bags from air ride valve plus connectors got replaced after all this i did test drive and woow ,huge improvement ,he said lets check air bags (they are so hard to find hidden leak) ,first we look on bobtail then he wanted to hook heavy trailer ...still nothing, then we jacked up rear axle to have front axle droped (front axle air bags were droped that we could see whole bells under rubber bags itself) nothing been found ....then we jacked up front diff axle same way as rear.....and we heard bigggg ssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss from left air bag where it sticks to the bell THAT WAS A HIT!!! i was so impressed what he did and how, maybe his method was primitive but it works......all that took 4,5 hours and spend 200$ for parts( air manifold, air tubes, connectors and 1 air bag)since that my drives started be nice rounded and even in whole width !!! it also help in steering tires wear, now i put bridgestone r280 have 18,000 miles right now and is all great...on prevoious bridgestone steering i did 228,000 miles, i replaced drives on september 2010 have 180,000miles on them and they are like new 65% tread !! prevoius drives had 346,000 miles

    RedForeman Thanks this.
