I drove for TMC 7 years ago and was offered a job working offshore. needless to say, offshore has slowed and i was laid off recently. This is only to keep money in the bank until offshore work picks back up. I spoke to TMC to go back but since i live west of I35, im out of the hiring area. I also dont want to use my family (who drive for regional flatbed companies) to get a job then leave after 6 months when/if i get called back to work. I have looked at local companies and regional companies but Im not satisfied with them for one reason or another.

Gotcha, short-term deal. I have no personal experience with either, but if I had to choose one of those, I would go CFI because their reputation isn't nearly as bad Werner. I know CFI, in it's current incarnation, is a fairly unknown entity at this point, but I'd still give them first shot.

Any you have not been in a truck in 7 years? That don't sound to bad. I am thinking driving again, but don't really want to spend 4-6 weeks with a trainer, I spent 2 weeks when I started and didn't know anything lol.

Luck to ya, man. Werner probably has like... two dozen flatbeds. It's not a major part of their game.

    Lithia Springs, huh? Lol.

CFI would be my vote, of course I worked there when it was family owned.

I'm interested to hear how the "New CFI" is doing. I'm glad they split from Conway.

I lease to CFI, they've been good, pretty much. It is a truck company. They are honest, pay on time in full every Friday, they pay company drivers upon dispatch, which is useful. I/C's get paid on signed BOL, a slight difference that I don't care about myself since I have a cash reserve for such minor inconveniences as out of money, but it can be handy for some. And I/C's got a small raise in January, $.02/mile. CFI is into safety, and they don't force you to roll if you feel unsafe.

I did notice one thing, that's the proliferation of rules. Joplin has a "your voice is heard" conference call at times, drivers call in mostly to complain, so - you guessed it, another rule after each call. I own my truck outright, and used to just tell my FM when I wanted to go home. Now they want me to give them 8 days notice because some drivers were complaining and CFI couldn'g guarantee a date in less than 8 days. Just an example. I think all these corporations have people sitting at desks in offices thinking up rules for drivers.
