I thought I'd need an apu before I started driving 10 months ago. But honestly it's really not necessary at all. Just ide.for a bit before bed worst case scenario. Idle on hot days or very cold days etc. The inverter is enough to make me happyRedtwin, hollywood76, BiggBossMann and 1 other person Thank this.

Does idling effect any sort of fuel bonus they offer ? Do they restrict idling ? Are you ever too hot or cold because of no APU ?
-
You can idle above 70 and below 35 I think. Never too hot or cold. Worst case there's a trick to bypass it. There is no fuel bonus but they do want us to maintain a certain mpg areaanf a certain idle percentageBlueThunderr Thanks this.
-
Are they dry van or reefer ? Do they cover all 48 for OTR drivers ? How many miles can a driver expect a week? And, do they test out in manuals ?
-
Dry van only
48 States plus Canada. Canada is not required but you can do it if you want to
I average 2500 miles a week. Some weeks over 3000 some weeks just above 2000. Never see myself.below 2000 unless I had a breakdown or something.
I tested in a 13 speed in orientation and I think they have everyone test in that. But our whole fleet is pretty much automatics so I'm sure if you have a restricted license you can request to test in automatic.BlueThunderr Thanks this. -
