A couple weeks ago I noticed that my Galaxy's digital channel readout indicated 18 yet I was actually on CH 19.

Any ideas what has caused this and will it hurt the radio to use it like that.

Does your frequency meter say 27.185?

Maybe you can give us more to go on. Like model of radio you have. Is it in a mobile environment or is it being used as a base station. Has it been working fine for a long time and then it started acting up? Are you on rough roads regularly? Also, have you checked the power for around 14 volts dc going into the radio? Low power can cause some weird problems with a radio.

Did you see a similar offset on other channels, ie 17 is 18, 16 is 17 etc?

I believe the problem has been diagnosed by the shop that set it up for me.

Cold solder joints most likely. I've had them do that more than once. Now if the frequency is drifting, it could be something else. Which I've also had happen before, but I'm not a tech and can't tell you how to fix it.
