you should pick up some extra cross links and chain pliers. It will save you a lot of money in the long run.

Estes pays for you to chain. Not sure how much, since I haven't had to yet. But some of our guys who run out of Boise towards oregon have to chain and unchain 6 times a night. Well that's at least what they say.

I get paid by the mile, using a variation of hhg mileage. Some would say I am getting screwed by not being paid all miles, and not being paid for on duty time. Companies that pay practical miles tend to pay less per mile. Companies that are not ltl and pay a mix of mileage and on duty tend to pay less per mile and the on duty wage is less than the driver would make driving down the road, but it all ends up being close to the same when all is said and done.

Me, I look at how much I actually make versus how much time/effort I spent. I compare that to other jobs, and I still like my pay structure. Are there times that i get screwed? Yup. Are there times I make out like a bandit? Yup again. But claiming that drivers are "not being paid" is ridiculous.

I don't do the mine runs anymore but when i did we got payed to chain. Got paid to repair chains, unload, load, truck repairs. I carried full tool kit and even replaced spring bodies on the side of the highway and yes got paid. We are not volunteers. Be wary of any company who speak of "duties as required" included in mileage rate, that's a broad stroke

He's either a Walmart employee, or contracted to do it, and he's paid to do it. Colorado has a chain up service, they are paid by comcheck, I believe it's $75 to install chains, if you have to rent chains from them, it's $200. They have someone on the other end who will get the chains from you, if you drive off with them, they will simply contact your company for a new comcheck.

chains? haven't been to date. I don't receive any compensation for showering either. depending on what it is, I do get paid to wait. especially if the company get's paid.but they earn more. shop time pays a few dollars but over all, keeping the wheels rolling at xx amount of speed, safely, tends to pay a little better.

On I-80 years ago they had a pretty good chain deal. If you were going west, you could rent a set of tire chains at the old 76 truck stop in Winnemucca. And whether you used them or not,you dropped them off at the 49er 76 truck stop in Sacramento. Reverse deal if you were going east.

I get paid $100k/yr to drive but for that they only get one hand. If I have to use the other hand to shift or hold the wheel or do anything but hold my smoke that’s another $30k.

Also, since backing Isn’t going forward I don’t back into parking spaces for free either. I only park at fuel pumps unless they pay reverse pay.

its literally a part of your job.
If my driver decided he will sit two days on my time waiting for the road to clear because truckee has chain control.

Ill be there in 3 hours to chain your truck up and give you a ride back to the yard.
