The question was strictly concerning Possession. I was not issued any with this new truck and usually don't get to run West. I got a rare preplan from Fort Worth to Billings. I am sure I'd get routed back either South or East.

Might post your question on this thread.
These guys are the know all and end all of chaining. Just ask them, they'll tell yah.
Of course they'll beat anybody down for not chaining to.
Was wondering about the guys that transport new trucks, if they have to buy chains every time they go west, then what they do with them after truck is delivered.

There are areas that the weather changes very quickly. it might be fine when you start over the Rockies but a storm may start while on them. You can drive slow int he right lane, but the chain up areas are temporary parking only. You have to drive with chains at least until the next rest area. You cant just hang out in the chain up area until it passes. The areas arn't big enough and arn't for parking, just for chaining up. If you dont want the chance of chaining up, then don't drive in those areas.

In general, most states west of texas to North Dakota require them some time during the year. If you plan to run west, have chains on your trucks after august.

does your company do a "chain bank" check and find out. Wyoming also has a chain law like Colorado, it carries a hefty fine as well.

You guys are the same Maroons who grease your steering wheels. Where does it say 6 sets? 1 set of duals and 4 sets of singles are legal for a 5 axle Tractor Trailer.

I don't know about any other states but Oregon it's six singles, or mix and match for 5 axles.

No. Ca. must carry chains winter months. Here's one, U.S.395 north of Bishop, Ca. no single screws winter months even with chains.
