Chain Possession Laws?

The PA chain laws are as follows. These are not my words.

"One set of chains or snow tires is required when vehicles are likely to encounter any adverse weather conditions which may require chains. They must consist of not less than five cross chains and must not project more than an inch on the outside surface of the wheel."

If you ever travel some of the back country roads in PA you will see signs posted.

 

Oh, and contrary to what OOIDA, CDOT, CSP, your company, the tooth fairy and the wicked witch all tell you, if you're running Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, Idaho or Montana, just carry chains on the truck, and enough to do your job. If your company won't provide them and wants you to use a chain bank, buy them yourself.

There are chain up locations on US 287 So. of Lamar, Colorado, what happens when your chain bank is in Denver and you're on your way to Denver from Dallas and a snow/ice storm hits the plains of Colorado?

Screw chain banks. I-76 between MM 50 and MM 55 is a chain up zone, twice in the last 5 yrs the chain law has been put in place on this #### little hill because it iced over and looked like a semi salvage yard.

Oh, and Dear OOIDA, there is no Morrison County or Dotsero County Colorado. It's the village of Dotsero (mm 133) and Morrison Rd. (mm 259). Since they don't want to correct their own articles.
