I'm not the driver but I have run the Alcan Highway for many years. The driver mentions that he had chains on when he opened the window to listen to them.

I don't see using the jake a problem when you have good traction. In this case he was loaded, chained up and the hill was sanded.

On my last truck you could jake hard on slippery surfaces and as the Jake was integrated with the ABS system, the Jake would cut out when there wasn't enough traction.

Excellent article on chaining. Should be required reading and instruction for anyone who does winter driving. Much appreciate the clarity of the instructions.

Yeah, and there's people that say if they have to put it in 4-wheel drive, they don't need to be out. Or, if the power divider has to be locked in, its too unsafe.

    Cant walk on it,Aint driving on it . . . . .
Worked real well for acouple few decades for me,sides
I always figured the binder would make the ride abit ruff on the duff
so my chains stayed in their rack.

Thought I'd throw this out for the "I'll wait it out crowd".

Colo. Dept. of Transportation implemented the chain law on US160 over Wolf Creek Pass at 8:32 am Dec. 2nd, 2011. Initially it was for single drives, 2 hrs later it was for everyone.

3 pm on Dec. 7th, they finally changed it to single drives only, about 8 am on Dec. 8th, they lifted it altogether.

The chain law was in place for almost a week. I'm curious who would sit that long?
