Huh. I'm in Pacific, just left the Supermall in Auburn. Let me know when you deliver.

All the years of driving I never chained up and hopefully never will...If it gets to bad I get off the road

There was about 2 feet at the yard, they had chain law all day Friday and Saturday from the 176 to the bridge. ODOT closed the 405 earlier because of how slick it was. It may be open now, they were also warning of icy conditions from Portland to Albany.

Chaining doesn't necessarily mean "bad". It means, most times, you're using them to get up a mountain. In winter weather, it's actually safer with chains because of the extra grip and slower drive. Besides. Not chaining just means pussing out. :biggrin_2559: There's nothing wrong with chaining. It's a part of trucking.

Something I definitely want to add to my winter equipment is a good snow shovel. Given the limited space the standard snow shovels sold at Home Depot, etc. aren't a good option. Instead I'll be picking up one of those snow shovels used by back country skiers and snowshoers. You can get one at an Eastern Mountain Sports, REI, or ####'s Sporting Goods. The shovel head will come off and the handle collapses to stow away easily.

In addition to a good shovel I already have a pair of really good gloves with a cinched gauntlet, and a small bag of kitty litter. Sprinkle a little KL in front of the drives and you can get underway in parking lots.

Yeah....Kitty litter isn't going to work....

Someone suggested dumping anti-freeze in front of the drives to melt the ice...

    Uh....I'm tearing up pavement......

What I need are Triple-rails all the way around.....And not just the standard ones....The ones the Canadians use to grip the ice....

Dunno, Kitty Litter has worked for me a few times to get traction in an icy parking lot. Once underway then you can manage, but getting started's the trick.

I felt the same way Friday,Thursday was a little rough and most of us that drive out of our little Kalama ,WA yard were a little beat up from it.
We have about 10 trucks in Kalama,I was the only driver that showed up for work Friday.
